About Orwyn and its founder, Dr Arj ImbuldeniyaA surgeon who watched the same thing happen for over a decade.

Orwyn is founded and led by Dr Arj Imbuldeniya, a consultant orthopaedic knee, hip and trauma surgeon. He has more than 25 years in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal (MSK) care. He trained at St Bartholomew's and The Royal London, and completed two specialist fellowships, in Sydney and Barcelona. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He holds a Masters in Global Health Policy from Imperial College London.

He has been an NHS (National Health Service) consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London since 2015. His NHS work covers knee soft tissue surgery, knee and hip joint replacement, and trauma surgery, including knee trauma. For years, physiotherapists and first contact clinicians across West London have phoned or emailed him about a patient. He has learned as much from those conversations as they have. The difficulty is that it only works for clinicians who happen to have his email address. Orwyn exists so that this help does not depend on knowing someone.

The idea came from more than ten years of watching the same thing happen. People wait too long to see the right person. The decision that shapes everything afterwards is made without a surgeon's view being available to the clinician making it. Orwyn is an attempt to put that view where the decision is actually made, rather than months later.
